to the senate after all the criticism that she got from john mccain and lindsey graham and other key republican senators after her appearance on the sunday shows talking about the incident in benghazi. they were so angry because they say she disseminated false information about the causes of that attack. we all know the story there. we don't need to rehash it. she was given these talking points by the intelligence community. she was merely saying what they had instructed her to say. but the senators, these republican senators blamed her for using them when they say she knew they were false. she has clearance, security clearance, she had access to what had actually happened, or at least the best judgment for the classified material at that time. be that as it may, she made that trip up to capitol hill. john mccain, lindsey graham still rather forthright in their opposition, but really raised a red flag with the white house was a moderate like susan collins or bob corker expressing serious reservations. while not saying they would oppose any nomination were to it come. one of the strangest things

of state. and i hate to see her drummed out of there by john mccain and lindsey graham on false charges, number one. and number two, i know everybody says you just have to pick your battles, you know. a lot of people were telling the president, i'm sure, yeah, she would be great but you can't afford to make this your first fight of this -- the end of this year, the beginning of the next year. you've got -- you can't waste your political capital on this. i'm sorry the president decided not to do it. i think he should have fought right down to the finish line with susan rice. i would rather go down in flames fighting for susan rice than give in to john mccain and lindsey graham. >> jennifer: you know, i know you have to pick your battles. i've been in that situation before. i know he's battling over the cliff. we'll talk about that in a second. but it is an interesting series of dominoes that fall here. susan rice does not get secretary of state. obviously john kerry will get that. he's the senator from massac

mccain. you said since john mccain and lindsey graham are like a human circular centipede -- they're like a senator-pede, part of the same organism. >> they keep feeding and defecating the same talking points into each other's mouths constantly. >> stephanie: lindsey graham of course repeated exactly what john mccain said. as you say they eat the same [ bleep ] in an endless loop. like a senator-pede. >> the siamese senators. and it's become so boring on sunday mornings. you know. now it is either mccain, graham or which other boring senator is going to be on there? >> stephanie: at any rate, i was saying -- what is your prediction on the susan rice thing? i've heard people saying he's not going to nominate her now. it is a shame. it really is. >> no, i think that at this point, if he were to nominate her, it would be a direct confrontation. it could be a way to call them out. and to say -- and to force them to say okay, what do you really have? i think -- i don't know. i think he's in a confrontat

't. the thing that really killed it, they understood, john mccain, lindsey graham, kelly ayotte opposed her. the thing that killed it when she met susan collins who introduced her at her confirmation hearing and been a rise supporter and said there were serious questions about the nomination. at that point the handwriting was on the wall. bill: she is considered a moderate, if you have a good chance of getting through that would be the sign you have a chance but what graham just said, she was the most politically compliant person they could find, that's loaded. >> well i mean this goes back to what she said in the aftermath of those benghazi attacks when she said it wasn't a terrorist act. it was the result of spontaneous protests against that islamic video. we know that susan rice was picked in part because of her intense loyalty to president obama. not like she is the best-loved person in washington. it is the fact she has been with the president for quite a while. she was a clinton person and went with obama early in 2006 and 2007. there is a lot of loyalty there and the president could
